Stealing Bodies
The city is slowly unraveled
by what it kills every night,
by the wounds that are not
supposed to fester when left
on their own. This vision of
permanence is always blurred,
like the rooftops that have been
wedged in all that sky and sleeplessness.
Each being is a furtive miracle naming
every fast car after a long-dead dream girl.
Each being is an incomplete grocery list.
Each being is a paper cut waiting to heal.
